Romance Divas is starting their 3-month-long boot camp next week. I applied, got accepted (but really, everyone got accepted), and found out I scored an amazingly awesome mentor who is awesome. Did I mention that?
So who’s this amazingly awesome mentor that is awesome? None other than GWEN FREAKING HAYES!!!!!! What’s even cooler? She has her own mugs. This. Rocks. My. Socks.
Not a long post because I’ve got some writing to do on my contemp YA before I’m torn apart and glued back together.
Wish me luck!

So there’s this little book, I dunno, maybe you’ve heard of it, it’s called Shiver and was written by an amazing author, Maggie Stiefvater. (And if you haven’t heard of Shiver, then I apologize for disrupting the rock you live under.)
Anyway, Maggie’s holding an awesome giveaway to celebrate the upcoming release of the next book in the Shiver series, Linger. I would’ve posted about this anyway since I usually post about releases on Tuesdays…but this contest forced me to get off my butt and run like crazy to get as many entries as possible because this GIVEAWAY ROCKS MY SOCKS. Yeah. Here are the details for your perusal:
In Maggie Stiefvater’s Shiver, Grace and Sam found each other. Now, in Linger, they must fight to be together. For Grace, this means defying her parents and keeping a very dangerous secret about her own well-being. For Sam, this means grappling with his werewolf past . . . and figuring out a way to survive into the future. Add into the mix a new wolf named Cole, whose own past has the potential to destroy the whole pack. And Isabelle, who already lost her brother to the wolves . . . and is nonetheless drawn to Cole.
At turns harrowing and euphoric, Linger is a spellbinding love story that explores both sides of love — the light and the dark, the warm and the cold — in a way you will never forget.
Comes out in stores everywhere July 20th. Pre-order here.
Enter to win an advanced review copies of LINGER, Sisters Red, The Dead-Tossed Waves, and The Replacement on Maggie’s blog.
(And as another add, I’ve been lurking and reading some of the short fiction on Merry Sisters of Fate that Maggie shares with Brenna Yovanoff and Tessa Gratton, and there is some seriously good stuff on there. Like goosebumps good. You should really check it out. Just sayin’.)

What happened to January? Oh, that’s right, I wrote 50,542 words in January during a self-inflicted JaNaNo. And not all of it’s crap. Though I’m inclined to think about 70% of it may fall under that category. But a few things happened in this slug fest that may not have otherwise: I explored some plot lines that I think will majorly bog down my main story, I understand my characters’ GMC better now, and I answered some things I wasn’t sure I knew the answer to when I first made my oh-so-colorful plotboard.
My brain may be close to dead, but I’m not done with BLUR yet. There’s still about 10-15K more to the story that I need to add…and then I can take out my sharpest knife to slice away the fat and add the seasoning.
We’re supposed to get snow here today. And then on Friday. And then on Saturday. Hubs told me that the Emergency Operations Service is calling for 24-40 inches of snow during the Fri-Sat storm. Uh, w-what? We had 26 inches in December and I thought that was quite ridiculous. I’m not even sure I can picture 40 inches (and it’s a good thing this is a G-rated site otherwise this vast amount would take on a whole nother context). Needless to say, lots of snow means: Lots of tea, lots of Baby Girl kisses, and lots of writing. I’m pretty optimistic I’ll be done with the first draft by the end of the weekend.
Stay tuned to see whether I’m a woman of my word or a woman of great delusions. It’s a toss up.
